29 CFR 1910.1200(h)(1): Employees were not provided effective information and training as specified in 29 CFR 1910.1200(h)(2) and (h)(3) on hazardous chemicals in their work area at the time of their initial assignment and whenever a new hazard that the employees had not been previously trained about was introduced into their work area: (a) A laborer who mixed mortar that was used to seal sewer pipe manholes had not been provided information and training regarding the following: * Information concerning the location and availability of the employer's written hazard communication program and material safety data sheets/safety data sheets * Training on the details of the employer's hazard communication program including an explanation of the labeling system used in the workplace and the material safety data sheet and how the employee could obtain and use this hazard information. (b) As of 7/11/16, a foreman and laborer had not been trained on the new chemical container label elements and the new format and types of information on each section of safety data sheets (SDSs) with respect to revisions to the standard in accordance with the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS). ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION IS REQUIRED
