29 CFR 1926.20(b)(2): The employer did not initiate and maintain a safety program which provides for frequent and regular inspections of jobsites, materials, and equipment to be made by a competent person. NOTE: A Competent person means one who is capable of identifying existing and predictable hazards in the surroundings or working conditions which are unsanitary, hazardous, or dangerous to employees, and who has authorization to take prompt corrective measures to eliminate them. a) Worksite: On or about August 1, 2016 at the Marine Corps Housing Area at Laurel Bay in Beaufort, SC, site inspections were not being performed on a frequent or regular basis ensuring safety and health hazards were identified and corrected in a timely manner. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION IS REQUIRED
