29 CFR 1910.305(g)(1)(iv)(A): Unless specifically permitted otherwise in paragraph (g)(1)(ii) of this section, flexible cords and cables may not be used as a substitute for permanent building wiring.  In the South Bay, a yellow 100 foot AWG 12/3 SJTW extension cord was being used to provide power to the lights in this area. Employees were exposed to a shock hazard.

29 CFR 1910.305(g)(2)(iii): Flexible cords and cables were not connected to devices and fittings so that strain relief was provided that would prevent pull from being directly transmitted to joints or terminal screws:  In the South Bay, a male plug attached to the cable feeding electrical power to the lights in this area was not connected to prevent any pull from being transmitted to the terminals within the plug. Employees were exposed to a shock hazard.

29 CFR 1910.334(a)(2)(i): Portable cord and plug connected equipment and flexible cord sets (extension cords) were not visually inspected before use on any shift for external defects (such as loose parts, deformed and missing pins, or damage to outer jacket or insulation) and for evidence of possible internal damage (such as pinched or crushed outer jacket):  In the South Bay area, a red and black extension cord being used to provide power to various carpentry tools including but not limited to nail guns displayed signs of internal damage as a result of overheating and/or overloading of the cord. Employees were exposed to a shock and/or a fire hazard.

29 CFR 1910.22(a)(1): All places of employment, passageways, storerooms, and service rooms were not kept clean and orderly and in a sanitary condition:  In and around the South Bay and Rib Assembly areas, the employer did not ensure that air hoses and electrical extension cords did not present a slip/trip/fall hazard to the employees working in and transiting through the area.
