29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): Types of guarding. One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices,electronic safety devices, etc. a. In the automatic screw machine area, The Brown and Sharp Automatic Screw Machines were not adequately guarded to protect employees from moving parts and pinch points. b. In the CNC room, the Omni-Turn GT--75 CNC machines were not adequately guarded to protect employees from the point of operation.

29 CFR 1910.334(a)(2)(i): Portable cord and plug connected equipment and flexible cord sets (extension cords) shall be visually inspected before use on any shift for external defects (such as loose parts, deformed and missing pins, or damage to outer jacket or insulation) and for evidence of possible internal damage (such as pinched or crushed outer jacket). Cord and plug connected equipment and flexible cord sets (extension cords) which remain connected once they are put in place and are not exposed to damage need not be visually inspected until they are relocated. a. In the automatic screw machine area, cord and plug lighting was not inspected for external defects, resulting in damaged outer coating of the flexible cord.
