29 CFR 1910.66(h)(1): General maintenance. All parts of the equipment affecting safe operation was not maintained in proper working order so that they may perform the functions for which they were intended. The equipment was not taken out of service when it was not in proper working order. (a) Employees working on the Lift-A-Loft Vert-A-Lifts were exposed to a fall hazard(s) from mechanical failure. The employer did not ensure lifts were maintained in proper serviceable condition and taken out of service when determined not to be in proper mechanical working order.
