29 CFR 1910.107(c)(2): Minimum separation. There shall be no open flame or spark producing equipment in any spraying area nor within 20 feet thereof, unless separated by a partition. On or about 08/24/2016, welding was performed at a location less than 15 feet of the spray application booth. The partition available to control migration of sparks from the welding operation had gaps, allowing sparks to travel to the spray operation area.

29 CFR 1910.252(c)(1)(ii): Screens. When welding must be performed in a space entirely screened on all sides, the screens shall be so arranged that no serious restriction of ventilation exists. It is desirable to have the screens so mounted that they are about 2 feet (0.61 m) above the floor unless the work is performed at so low a level that the screen must be extended nearer to the floor to protect nearby workers from the glare of welding. On or about 08/24/2016, welding was performed without any screens to protect workers near by, such as forklift operators, who access the area without any protection from the welding glare.
