29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. a) On or about 11/17/2016, Letter Press Napkin Machine #152 in Building #3 did not have guarding to prevent an employee from jogging two fingers through a nip point created by the printing plate and impression roll while he was feeling the printing plate to determine if it was lifting off the cylinder. b) On or about 11/21/2016, the semi-automatic case packer for line #152 in Building #3 did not have guarding to provide protection from pinch points created by the movement of the chair lift for cases being lifted or lowered from the horn on the case packer.
