29 CFR 1926.251(c)(1): Employers must not use improved plow-steel wire rope and wire-rope slings with loads in excess of the rated capacities (i.e., working load limits) indicated on the sling by permanently affixed and legible identification markings prescribed by the manufacturer: On or about November 22, 2016 - job site at 81-10 135th Street, Briarwood, NY 11435 Employees used a 1/2-inch fiber core wire rope sling with a rated maximum capacity of 3200 pounds to lift a steel I-beam that weighed 6208 pounds. The sling snapped while being lifted and fell 40-feet to the lower level. WRITTEN ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION IS REQUIRED PERSUANT TO 29 CFR 1903.19
