29 CFR 1910.219(c)(4): Where employees were exposed to ends of projecting more than one-half the diameter of the shaft were not guarded as required and/or unused keyways were not filled or covered: On or about 12/01/2016, the employer did not ensure that employees working on the finishing line were protected from injury due to an unguarded shaft end protruding from a conveyor. An unguarded shaft on a model HK Systems UHS motorized conveyor protrudes more than half of the diameter of the shaft. The unguarded shaft measures approximately 3 inches from the edge of the conveyor housing. This condition exposes employees to caught-by hazards. Abatement certification is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(c).
