29 CFR 1926.652(g)(1)(ii): Shields shall be installed in a manner to restrict lateral or other hazardous movement of the shield in the event of the application of sudden lateral loads. On or about August 2, 2016, during construction trenching activities to repair a waterline at a worksite located at approximately 3617 West 130th Street, Cleveland, Ohio the employer did not ensure a trench shield (trench box) was installed in a manner that restricted lateral or other hazardous movement in the event of sudden lateral loads.
