29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): Types of guarding. One or more methods of machine guarding were not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. a. On or about December 28, 2016, in the North Packing Department, employees were required to operate Swiss Industrial Company Wrapper Machines on Line 7. The fin wheel section on the machines was not adequately guarded, thereby exposing employees to amputation hazards.
