29 CFR 1910.303(b)(7)(iv): Electric equipment had damaged parts that may adversely affect safe operation or mechanical strength of the equipment, such as parts that are broken, bent, cut, or deteriorated by corrosion, chemical action, or overheating.  Buildings 8549 and 8574; on or about 03 January 2017 and times prior thereto; three instances were noted were electrical outlets were damaged:       a. Building 8549, Break room, a 120 volt energized electrical outlet had a cracked receptacle.        b. Building 8574, North wall adjacent to boiler room, an energized electrical outlet box was cracked on the left hand side.       c. Building 8574, Communications room, an electrical thermostat control was damaged. The control switch was separated from the outlet box exposing energized wiring.  This condition exposed employees to an electrical shock hazard.

29 CFR 1910.305(b)(1)(ii): Unused openings in boxes, cabinets, or fittings were not effectively closed.  Building 8549; on or about 03 January 2017 and times prior thereto; the employer did not ensure that electrical openings were effectively closed. Two instances were noted:       a. Cage Area, an energized 120/208, Heavy Duty Switch Box had a knockout plug missing on the lower right hand side.        b. West Wall, an energized Curtis Air Compressor had a knockout plug missing on the power control box.  This condition exposed employees to an electrical shock and electrical burn hazards.  The Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard 29 CFR 1910.305(b)(1)(ii), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 952426, citation number 1, item number 2a and was affirmed as a final order on 19 March 2014, with respect to a workplace located at 3rd MXS AGE Building 8549 located at JBER, Alaska.
