29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(1): Portable ladders were used for access to an upper landing surface and the ladder side rails did not extend at least 3 feet (.9 m) above the upper landing surface to which the ladder was used to gain access: (a) On January 11, 2017, at a jobsite at 2258 SW Wall Street, Blue Springs, MO, employees were exposed to fall hazards of approximately 10 feet and 15 feet. Employees were accessing working surfaces on a steep pitch roof by way of portable ladders whose side rails did not extend at least 3 feet above the upper landing surface being accessed. Abatement certification is required for this item; use the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET for this purpose.
