29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. This violation was observed on or about February 17, 2017, in the machine shop, employees were operating the Hemsaw horizontal band saw which did not have the unused portion of the saw blade guarded exposing employees to being struck by the blade.

29 CFR 1910.215(b)(3): The angular exposure of the grinding wheel periphery and sides for safety guards used on machines known as bench and floor stands should not exceed 90 deg. or one-fourth of the periphery. This violation was observed on or about February 17, 2017, in the machine shop, the peripheral guarding on the outer side of the grinding wheel and wheel spindle was missing exposing employees to struck-by hazards.
