Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to wood dust explosion, deflagration, or other fire hazards from static charge generation in plastic duct work containing combustible wood dust: (a) Wood Waste Collection Area: On February 28, 2017 and times prior, employees are exposed to fire, deflagration and/or explosion hazard from static charge generation while moving combustible wood dust through an approximate 45 foot long plastic duct work, 12 inches in diameter. The wood dust had a Kst value of 5.47 bar-meter/sec.

29 CFR 1910.37(a)(2): Exit routes were not arranged so that employees will not have to travel toward a high hazard area, unless the path of travel is effectively shielded from the high hazard area by suitable partitions or other physical barriers: (a) Circular Head Saw Platform: On February 28, 2017 and times prior, the employer did not ensure that the exit route from the edger on the circular head saw platform was arranged to prevent employees from traveling past the moving utility cable support swing arm. The swing arm moves into the exit route where employees may be struck by the moving carriage utility cable support swing arm.
