29 CFR 1910.132(d)(1): The employer did not assess the workplace to determine if hazards are present, or are likely to be present, which necessitate the use of personal protective equipment (PPE):    248 Greenfield Rd, Colrain, MA    As of March 27, 2017 at the closing of the inspection, the employer had not assessed the workplace to identify hazards that would require personal protective equipment.  The employer had not assessed the hazard to employees when they regularly lifted five-gallon pails above their head height to pour hot product into a jar filling machine.  On February 23, 2017, an employee received face and chest burn injuries after being splashed while pouring hot product into the filling machine.

29 CFR 1910.133(a)(1): Protective eye and face equipment was not required where there was a reasonable probability of injury that could be prevented by such equipment:    248 Greenfield Rd, Colrain, MA  On March 27, 2017 and at times prior, the employer had not required the use of eye and face protection for employees who had to regularly lift five-gallon pails above their head height to pour hot product into a jar filling machine.  On February 23, 2017, an employee received face and chest burn injuries after being splashed by the hot jam being poured into the jarring machine.
