The employer is failing to protect employees from fall hazards associated with working on a stairway without a stair rail system. The most recent occurrence of this was evident during the inspection of the facility located at 530 N. 17th Street, Lincoln, NE; where employees were in the process of building a stairway that had 13 risers and was not equipped with a stair rail system.

29 CFR 1926.1052(c)(12): Unprotected sides and edges of stairway landings were not provided with guardrail systems that meet the criteria contained in Subpart M of 29 CFR 1926: The employer is failing to protect employees from fall hazards associated with working on a stairway landing that did not have a guardrail system on its unprotected sides and edges. The most recent occurrence of this was evident during the inspection of the facility located at 530 N. 17th St, Lincoln, NE; where the employees were installing wooden steps on a staircase. The employees were standing on a stairway landing that was over 9' high, was under construction and its sides and edges were not protected with a guard rail system.
