29 CFR 1926.701(b): All protruding reinforcing steel, onto and into which employees could fall, shall be guarded to eliminate the hazard of impalement: (a) Craig Rd Eau Claire, Wisconsin: Sowles was in the process of constructing a mat containing reinforcing steel bars (REBAR). No employee or other person was injured during or after constructing the mat and there was exposed, unguarded REBAR on the Craig Road job site. Employee(s) were not protected from the hazard of impalement by falling.
