29 CFR 1926.651(k)(1): Daily inspections of excavations, the adjacent areas, and protective systems were not made by a competent person for evidence of a situation that could have resulted in possible cave-ins, indications of failure of protective systems (a) VA Lexington, Chiller Plant - On or about 3/20/17, a competent person did not perform daily inspections of the excavation including evaluating the engineered wall, the soil type and the ramps used to egress the excavation. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(c), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET).
