29 CFR 1910.106(e)(6)(i): Adequate precautions were not taken to prevent the ignition of flammable vapors: a) Inflatable Assembly Area: Adequate precautions were not taken by the employer to prevent the static ignition of flammable vapors such as but not limited to acetone and ethyl acetate when cleaning the surface of an inflatable slide. On 3/15/17, a production employee was in the process of wiping down an inflatable slide with a rag containing acetone and ethyl acetate blend and was injured when the rag ignited while in their right hand. NOTE: THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION FOR THIS ITEM. FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL PENALTY OF $1000.00 IN ACCORDANCE WITH 29 CFR 1903.19.
