29 CFR 1910.147(f)(1): Testing or positioning of machines, equipment or components thereof. In situations in which lockout or tagout devices must be temporarily removed from the energy isolating device and the machine or equipment energized to test or position the machine, equipment or component thereof, the following sequence of actions shall be followed:  On or about April 24, 2017, a maintenance manager was exposed to machine hazards associated with the point of operation of a Delta Wood Planer while testing the energized and unguarded machine.  The employer did not ensure the maintenance manager followed the required sequence of action for energizing and testing machines, by checking to ensure all employees have been safely positioned or removed from the machine area [per the 1910.147(f)(1)(ii) requirements].
