29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: a) CabParts, Inc., 716 Arrowest Road, Grand Junction, CO 81505: On and before May 18, 2017, one or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by rotating parts near the point of operation on the Homag edge bander whose operation exposes an employee to injury. This condition exposed employees to amputation hazards. b) CabParts, Inc., 716 Arrowest Road, Grand Junction, CO 81505: On and before May 18, 2017, one or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by the rotating parts of the horizontal and vertical drill presses. The backside of the presses is accessed routinely to replace hoses and maintain the drill press. The rotating bits were not guarded. This condition exposed employees to amputation hazards caused by exposure to rotating parts. a) CabParts, Inc., 716 Arrowest Road, Grand Junction, CO 81505: On and before May 18, 2017 the saw blade on the whirlwind upcut saw, model 212R, whose operation exposes employees to injury, was not guarded. The point of operation was not adequately guarded. This condition exposed employees to amputation hazards.

The employer did not conduct a periodic inspection of the energy control procedures on machines such as, but not limited to, the edge bander, the CNC machines, the milling machines, and the vertical and horizontal drill presses. This condition exposed employees to amputation hazards. Abatement note: 29 CFR 1910.147(c)(6)(ii) provides that the shall certify that periodic inspections had been performed. The certification did not identify the machine or equipment on which the energy control procedure was being utilized, the date of the inspection, the employees included in the inspection, and the person performing the inspection.
