29 CFR 1910.179(m)(1): Running ropes. A thorough inspection of all ropes was not made at least once a month and a certification record which included the date of the inspection, signature of the person who conducted the inspection and an identifier for the ropes which were inspected was not kept on file where readily available to appointed personnel: Middle Bay & West Bay - On or about May 26, 2017, employees were required to use the Middle Bay and West Bay overhead cranes and running ropes to move steel coils. Thorough monthly inspections of running rope conditions were not performed. Employees were thereby exposed to the hazards that are associated with a rope failure.
