29 CFR 1910.212(a)(3)(ii): Point of operation of machinery were not guarded to prevent employee from having any part of their body in the danger zone during operating cycle.  (a) A manual shear press in the Idaho Army National Guard Sheet Metal Shop located on Gowen Field, Boise, ID on or about May 6, 2017, or prior thereto, had the guard raised creating an amputation hazard. Employees of Pacific Architects and Engineers Inc., acting as subcontractors to the Idaho Army Guard, frequently used the shear press to make precision cuts to small pieces of sheet metal. On one occasion, the use of the shear press resulted in the amputation of Pacific Architects and Engineers Inc. employee.   NOTE: Abatement certification and documentation is required for this item.
