29 CFR 1926.651(j)(2): Employees were not protected from excavated or other materials or equipment that could pose a hazard by falling or rolling into excavations. Protection shall be provided by keeping such objects at least 2 feet from the edge of excavations or properly restraining them from falling into the excavation: a) Employees working in the bottom of the excavation were exposed to being struck by pieces of steel, angle iron and steel stair risers that can slide down the 15 ft deep face of the excavation; the materials were being stored at the top of the excavation and were undermined by storm water run-off from the street. Location: 5002 2nd Ave, Brooklyn, N.Y.
