Employee was exposed to crushing hazards when a shelving unit closed in upon him while he was in the aisle between mobile shelving units. Violation occurred on or about 04/01/2017.

29 CFR 1910.37(b)(2): Each exit was not clearly visible and marked by a sign reading "Exit": a) 5801 West Side Avenue, On the Middle Door of the Southwest Corner Room, North Bergen, NJ. Where the employer directs employees to archive and retrieve broadcast video tapes from high density mobile/powered storage shelves, the emergency exit door was not labeled "Exit." Violation observed on or about 06/30/2017. NBC Universal was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.37(b)(2), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 785342, citation number 1, item number 1a and was affirmed as a final order on 05/23/2013, with respect to a workplace located at 5801 West Side Avenue, North Bergen, NJ.

29 CFR 1910.37(b)(4): Signs were not posted along the exit access indicating the direction of travel to the nearest exit and exit discharge when the direction of travel to the exit or exit discharge was not immediately apparent: a) 5801 West Side Avenue, In the Office on the South Side of the Building, North Bergen, NJ. The exit route direction of travel from the Southwest corner video archive room looking North through the office area toward the exit on the South side of the building was not immediately apparent. The exit sign on the wall over the door could not be seen given that a TV screen was blocking it from that travel direction. Violation observed on or about 06/30/2017. NBC Universal was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.37(b)(4), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 785342, citation number 1, item number 1b and was affirmed as a final order on 05/23/2013, with respect to a workplace located at 5801 West Side Avenue, North Bergen, NJ.
