29 CFR 1926.21(b)(2): The employer did not instruct each employee in the recognition and avoidance of unsafe conditions and the regulations applicable to his/her environment to control or eliminate any hazards or other exposure to illness or injury. a) 300 Pulteney St, Geneva, NY, On or about 7/12/17: Employees were not trained in the recognition of electrical hazards, such as: damaged strain relief, missing ground pins, damaged insulation and other hazards that may be found with the proper inspection of cord connected tools and equipment. Instance A: a) 300 Pulteney St, Geneva, NY, On or about 7/12/17: An employee was using a Porter Cable hand held belt sander that contained bad strain relief where the power cord enters the machine. Instance B: b) 300 Pulteney St, Geneva, NY, On or about 7/12/17: An employee was using a Edco floor scarifier that contained a bad strain relief where the power cable enters the handle housing.
