29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): Types of guarding. One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices, electronic safety devices, etc. a. On or before July 24, 2017, where employees operated walk-behind lawn mowers, the safety interlock was disconnected, thereby exposing employees to caught-in, struck-by, or other hazards.

29 CFR 1910.215(a)(2): Guard design. The safety guard shall cover the spindle end, nut, and flange projections. The safety guard shall be mounted so as to maintain proper alignment with the wheel, and the strength of the fastenings shall exceed the strength of the guard. a. on or before July 24, 2017, where employees operated the blade sharpener, there was no guard, thereby exposing employees to struck-by or other hazards.

Each employer required by this Part to keep records of fatalities, injuries, and illnesses must record each fatality, injury and illness that: 29 CFR 1904.4(a)(1) Is work-related; and 29 CFR 1904.4(a)(2) Is a new case; and 29 CFR 1904.4(a)(3) Meets one or more of the general recording criteria of �1904.7 or the application to specific cases of ��1904.8 through 1904.12. a. on or before July 24, 2017, the employer had not maintained OSHA 300 logs including, but not limited to, recording an accident that occurred on June 26, 2017 where an employee was injured and went to the hospital for medical treatment and received prescription medication.
