29 CFR 1926.102(a)(1): The employer did not ensure that each affected employee uses appropriate eye or face protection when exposed to eye or face hazards from flying particles, molten metal, liquid chemicals, acids or caustic liquids, chemical gases or vapors, or potentially injurious light radiation:  On or about July 20, 2017, at a work site in the Sam's Club located on Ambassador Caffery Parkway in Lafayette, LA, the employer did not ensure that an employee utilizing a jig saw to cut pvc pipe for the underground plumbing of floor drains was wearing the appropriate eye protection (safety glasses).   Among other methods, some feasible and acceptable means of abatement include, but are not limited to, ensuring that: 1) employees exposed to eye hazards from flying debris are provided with the appropriate eye protection, 2) the eye protection complies with ANSI Z87.1, 3) the eye protection is equipped with side shields (detachable side protectors like clip-on or slide-on side shields are acceptable), and 4) employees who wear prescription lenses while engaged in operations that involve eye hazards wear eye protection that incorporates the prescription in its design, or wear eye protection that can be worn over the prescription lenses without disturbing the proper position of the prescription lenses or the protective lenses.
