29 CFR 1926.651(k)(1): An inspection of the excavations, the adjacent areas, and protective systems was not conducted by the competent person prior to the start of work and as needed throughout the shift: On or about July 27, 2017 at a worksite located at 4194 Lambert Road, South Euclid, OH, 44121 during excavation and sewer repair activities, the employer did not ensure a competent person conducted inspections of the excavation. The employee on site identified as the competent person did not have authorization to take prompt corrective measures to eliminate identified hazards.
