Each employee engaged in residential construction activities 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels was not protected by guardrail systems, safety net system, or personal fall arrest system. On 7/28/2017, employees from Angle Ridge Remodeling LLC were working on the roof of a residential building located at 370 East College Street, Troy, MO. Three employees were engaged in roofing work approximately 9 feet above a lower level. Exposed employees were not utilizing guardrail systems, a safety net system, or a personal fall arrest system. The employees were observed on the roof of the building without fall protection, exposing themselves to a fall to the ground below.

29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(1): When portable ladders are used for access to an upper landing surface, the ladder side rails did not extend at least 3 feet (.9 m) above the upper landing surface to which the ladder is used to gain access. On 7/28/2017, employees from Angle Ridge Remodeling LLC were working on the roof of a residential building located at 370 East College Street, Troy, MO. Three employees were engaged in roofing work approximately 9 feet above a lower level. The ladder the workers were using to access the roof was not extended three feet beyond the landing or edge of the roof.
