29 CFR 1910.305(g)(1)(iv)(A): Flexible cords and/or cables were used as a substitute for the fixed wiring of a structure: Adjacent to the Conveyor Line: The employer utilized a flexible extension cord and a multi-outlet power strip to energize a portable fan, and a scale used to weigh packages for shipping. The flexible cord and the power strip were used in lieu of fixed wiring.

29 CFR 1910.334(a)(2)(ii): There was a defect or evidence of damage that could have exposes an employee to injury and the defective or damaged item was not removed from service: Adjacent to Conveyor Line: The employer used a flexible extension cord and a multi-receptacle power strip to reach a receptacle in order to energize a portable fan. The extension cord had its sheathing pulled away from the plug, exposing the live conductors within.
