29 CFR 1910.28(b)(8): For repair pits, service pits, or assembly pits that were less than 10 feet (3 m) deep when fall protection systems were not required, the employer did not comply with provisions (i)-(iii) of this section: (a) Grease Monkey #702: On or about August 8, 2017, and at times prior, employees were exposed to fall hazards in excess of 4 feet into grease pits in that bay number three was left open with the net not in use. Abatement Note: Abatement certification and documentation are required for this item (see enclosed "Certification of Corrective Action Worksheet"). Abatement Note: In addition to the provisions listed in this section, acceptable abatement includes the use of conventional fall protection (such as guardrails) or safety net systems used in accordance with 29 CFR 1926 Subpart M.
