29 CFR 1910.138(a):  Employers did not select and require employees to use appropriate hand protection when employees' hands are exposed to hazards such as those from skin absorption of harmful substances; severe cuts or lacerations; severe abrasions; punctures; chemical burns; thermal burns; and harmful temperature extremes.  a) On or about August 11, 2017 or prior thereto:   Cotton gloves were utilized for the propane recharging operation.  The hazards of the operation include frostbite from potential contact with propane under pressure.   Impermeable or insulated gloves were not utilized.  NOTE:  Abatement certification is required for this item.

29 CFR 1910.178(g)(2): Facilities were not provided for flushing and neutralizing spilled electrolyte, for fire protection, for protecting charging apparatus from damage by trucks, and for adequate ventilation for dispersal of fumes from gassing batteries.  a) On or about August 11, 2017 or prior thereto:  The employer utilizes a battery charging station for Electric Hyster Stand Up Lift Powered Industrial Truck Model N40ER, S/N C138D01875J, and the eye wash station was not connected to running water.   The employer modifies the level of electrolyte in the battery, potentially exposing employees to the hazards of spilled electrolyte.  NOTE:  Abatement certification is required for this item.
