29 CFR 1910.252(a)(2)(xv): Cutting or welding was permitted not only in areas that were or had been made fire safe: a) Blue Moon Compressor Station, 344 McGirts Road, Daisytown, PA 15427: On and before August 15, 2017, the employer authorized welding, cutting and grinding work on compressor units that were operational and running and that had not been made fire safe. Each unit was equipped with two pressure relief valves, a packing vent, and a start gas vent that could potentially release natural gas while running or during a routine shut down. Employees and contractors working and welding in the vicinity of the running compressor units were exposed to fire and explosion hazards.
