A Ridgid miter saw and a Rockwell Drill Press had sawdust around the equipment.  This exposes employees to potential fire hazards and ineffective guarding.

29 CFR 1910.303(b)(2): Listed or labeled electrical equipment was not used or installed in accordance with instructions included in the listing or labeling:  a)  Air Traffic Control A Area;  A Proctor Silex toaster oven and Hamilton Beach kettle were plugged into a surge protector (relocatable power tap).  The UL listing states that relocatable power taps are designed for low amperage computer and audiovisual types of equipment, and not appliances.  This exposes employees to possible electrical fire hazards. CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION   b)  Garage Office;  A Sharp microwave and Frigidaire refrigerator were plugged into a surge protector (relocatable power tap).  The UL listing states that relocatable power taps are designed for low amperage computer and audiovisual types of equipment, and not appliances.  This exposes employees to possible electrical fire hazards.

29 CFR 1910.1025(h)(1): All surfaces were not maintained as free as practicable of accumulations of lead:  a)  COM Maintenance Room B101;  There was surface lead contamination on the  countertop with the soldering equipment.  This exposes employees to lead ingestion hazards.  *Please note that surfaces (other than glass or metal) are porous and gritty scrubbing cleaners (examples are Soft Scrub, Comet or Ajax) are sometimes needed to fully decontaminate the area from surface lead contamination.

29 CFR 1910.1200(f)(6)(ii): Except as provided in 29 CFR 1910.1200(f)(7) and 29 CFR 1910.1200(f)(8), the employer did not ensure that each container of hazardous chemicals in the workplace was labeled, tagged or marked with the product identifier and words, pictures, symbols, or combination thereof, which provide at least general information regarding the hazards of the chemicals and which, in conjunction with the other information immediately available to employees under the hazard communication program, would provide employees with the specific information regarding the physical and health hazards of the hazardous chemical:  a)  Generator Room;  A large container of antifreeze was not labeled.   b)  Chiller Room;  A white spray bottle with a cleaning chemical was not labeled.
