29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(5)(i): Non-self-supporting ladders were not used at an angle such than the horizontal distance from the top support to the foot of the ladder way approximately one-quarter of the working length of the ladder (the distance along the ladder between the foot and the top support): a) Worksite - 36 Penny Lane in Hampton Bays, NY: An employee was working from an extension ladder that was set up approximately 15 ft. high and extended approximately 8 ft. away from the house. The horizontal distance from the top support to the foot of the ladder was approximately one-half of the working length of the ladder, a ratio of 1:2, exposing employees to fall hazards; on or about 8/7/17. Note: Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19.
