29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1): Each employee on a walking/working surface with an unprotected side or edge which was 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level was not protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems. a) Site - On or about 08/24/17 and at times prior thereto the 5ft. x 12.5 ft. ground floor opening for fresh air ventilation of the parking garage was not guarded. Workers walking at ground level were exposed to falls from a 19 ft. elevation onto the second level garage (concrete) floor. Abatement certification not required for this violation. Corrected during inspection.
