29 CFR 1926.1101(i)(1): The employer did not provide or require the use of protective clothing such as coveralls or similar whole-body clothing, head coverings, gloves, and foot coverings for employees performing Class I work which involved the removal of over 25 linear or 10 square feet of thermal system insulation or surfacing asbestos containing material and presumed asbestos containing material: 50 FREEMAN AVENUE, NORWICH, CT: On or about August 28, 2017, employees removing asbestos-containing transite siding from a house destroyed by fire were not wearing appropriate personal protective equipment. A. Employees were observed to be wearing Lakeland ZoneGard spun polypropylene coveralls which are not recommended by the manufacturer for use when performing Class I asbestos work. B. One employee was observed removing debris from a second floor porch without gloves to protect his hands.
