29 CFR 1926.416(a)(1): No employer shall permit an employee to work in such proximity to any part of an electric power circuit that the employee could contact the electric power circuit in the course of work, unless the employee is protected against electric shock by deenergizing the circuit and grounding it or by guarding it effectively by insulation or other means. a. On or about September 01, 2017 at the above addressed jobsite, employees were required to work in close proximity to a commercial service drop while reroofing a commercial structure. The roof in this instance was approximately a 2/12 pitch and the energized commercial service drop rated at 480 volts. Employees were thereby exposed to electrical burns / shock. There is no abatement certification or documentation required for this item.

Except as otherwise provided in paragraph (b) of this section, each employee engaged in roofing activities on low-slope roofs, with unprotected sides and edges 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels shall be protected from falling by guardrail systems, safety net systems, personal fall arrest systems, or a combination of warning line system and guardrail system, warning line system and safety net system, or warning line system and personal fall arrest system, or warning line system and safety monitoring system. a. On or about September 01, 2017 at the above address, employees were performing roofing work on a commercial building. Employees were not utilizing fall protection and were exposed to a fall hazard of approximately 9.8 feet. There is no abatement documentation or certification required for this item.
