Boston Logan International Airport:  Employees were exposed to slip and fall hazards due to inadequate clearance from the side rails to the nearest permanent object: a. Delta Baggage Conveyor Room (Terminal A) - the distance between the side rail of a fixed ladder used to access the catwalks where the L3 X-ray machines were located and a guard for a conveyor belt ramp equipment was approximately 1/2 inch.

Echo West Baggage Conveyor Room (Terminal E) - clearance in back of fixed ladder for the first rung was approximately 1 inch to a metal raceway attached to the conveyor belt SB-04. b. Baggage Conveyor Room (Terminal B) - clearance on the back of the fixed ladder to the platform that crossed over conveyor belt (ED 4-11) that was used to access the center L3 X-ray Machine was approximately 5.25 inches.  The Transportation Security Administration was previously cited for an unsafe/unhealthful working condition of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard, 29 CFR 1910.27(c)(4), which was contained in OSHA inspection number #885583, notice number 1, item number 4 and was affirmed as a final order on September 3, 2013, with respect to a workplace located at Logan International Airport, Boston, MA.
