29 CFR 1910.132(d)(1): The employer did not assess the workplace to determine if hazards are present, or are likely to be present, which necessitate the use of personal protective equipment (PPE):  a) Workplace:  On or about 9-18-17 the employer did not assess the workplace to determine if hazards are present, or are likely to be present, which necessitate the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).  Hazards observed include:    1) Cleaning and maintaining manual food slicer and cutter blades. 2) Repetitive use of kitchen knives during food preparation work.  Abatement Note:   Once the PPE Hazard Assessment is completed you shall:     1) Certify that the hazard assessment has been performed through a written certification in accordance with 1910.132(d)(2),     2) Provide training to affected employees in proper use of required PPE 1910.132 (f)(1). 29 CFR 1910.138(a): The employer did not select and require employees to use appropriate hand protection when employees hands were exposed to hazardous condition(s):  a) Food preparation areas:  On or about 9-18-17 the employer did not select and require employees to use appropriate hand protection, such as cut-resistant gloves, when employees hands were exposed to laceration hazards when performing the following activities:  1) Cleaning and maintaining manual food slicer and cutter blades. 2) Repetitive use of kitchen knives during food preparation work.
