ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED PURSUANT TO 29 CFR 1903.19

29 CFR 1910.134(d)(1)(i): Selection of appropriate respirators was not based on the respiratory hazard(s) to which the worker was exposed and user factors that affect respirator performance and reliability: (a) On or about October 4, 2017, at Building 250, JFK International Airport, Jamaica 11430 The employer provided N95 respirators for use by employees, at their discretion, based on experience and training, when examining, searching and analyzing the contents of packages which potentially contained hazardous substances, including opioid drugs such as fentanyl. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health recommend, at minimum, a respirator with 100-rated filter (e.g. N100, R100, P100) to protect against inhalation of fentanyl. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED PURSUANT TO 29 CFR 1903.19
