29 CFR 1910.242(b): Compressed air was not reduced to less than 30 p.s.i. and effective chip guarding and personal protective equipment was not used when compressed air was used for cleaning purposes: On or about September 05, 2017, at the above addressed worksite, employees were using compressed air for cleaning purposes, while performing maintenance/repairs for aircraft landing gear components; wherein the compressed air was not reduced to less than 30 PSI, nor was effective chip guarding used, therefore exposing the operator and other employees in the work area to the release of compressed air and flying debris. NOTE: CERTIFICATION OF ABATEMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.

OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: On or about September 05, 2017, at the above addressed worksite, employees were using compressed air to operate pneumatic hand tools/equipment, while performing maintenance/repairs for aircraft landing gear components; wherein the compressed air was approximately 120 PSIG/not reduced to the tool/equipment manufacturers safe operating limitation of 90 PSIG, nor did the employees have available a copy of the tool/equipment manufacturers operating instructions, nor did they become familiar with all the instructions and warnings of the operators instructions before operating the tool; therefore exposing the operator and other employees in the work area to the hazards of the release of the compressed air and flying debris. NOTE: CERTIFICATION OF ABATEMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.
