29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: a) On or about September 22, 2017 canning employees were exposed to ingoing nip points underneath the Drum Fillers on lines 2- 13. The three quarter inch green rubber hose used to convey cans travelled over pulleys underneath the lines that had ingoing nip points.

29 CFR 1910.219(f)(3): Sprocket wheels and chains which were seven -7 feet or less above floors or platforms were not enclosed: a) On or about September 22, 2017 there was an unguarded chain and sprocket underneath the Ross Packer on Line #6 that caused an amputation to an employee's finger. b) On or about September 22, 2017 there were three unguarded sprockets on the Line #3canning line. c) On or about September 22, 2017 there were four unguarded sprockets on the Line #4 canning line. d) On or about September 22, 2017 there were four unguarded sprockets on the Line #5 canning line. e) On or about September 22, 2017 there was one unguarded sprocket on the Line #9 canning line. f) On or about September 22, 2017 there was one unguarded sprocket on the Line #10 canning line. Del Monte Foods Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard, which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1004642, citation number 1, item number 3 and was affirmed as a final order on December 5, 2014, with respect to a workplace located at 680 E John Street, Markesan, Wisconsin 53946.
