29 CFR 1926.21(b)(2): The employer did not instruct each employee in the recognition and avoidance of unsafe conditions and the regulations applicable to his/her environment to control or eliminate any hazards or other exposure to illness or injury: On or about September 26, 2017, employees performing residential foundation installations were exposed to heat illnesses and the employer had not provided training to all of the employees in regards to heat stress. Ensure workers, supervisors and management personnel are aware of the following: a. The hazards of heat stress. Heat related-illnesses may lead to death; b. How to avoid heat stress by recognizing and avoiding situations that can lead to heat-related illnesses (including the contribution of workload and that of personal protective equipment use); c. Recognition of signs and symptoms of heat-related illnesses; d. First-aid procedures; e. Employer's program to address heat-relates illnesses. SV Concrete Construction, L.L.C was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 1926.21(b)(2), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1172374, citation number 001, item number 001 and was affirmed as a final order on 12/29/16, with respect to a workplace located at 1314 Garwood Drive, Mahomet, IL.
