29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(8): Ladder placed in a location where they could be displaced by workplace activities or traffic, such as in passageways, doorways, or driveways, were not secured to prevent accidental displacement, nor was a barricade used to keep the activities or traffic away from the ladder. a) Jetty Terminal, Quarter Landing Staircase, Landing Area - Employee was standing on a six foot fiberglass stepladder ladder that was facing the steps. When turning to come down off of the ladder the back footers slipped off of the landing causing the employee to fall approximately 9 feet over the side of the staircase, on or about 10/03/2017. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the Certification of Corrective Action Worksheet), in addition, documentation demonstrating the abatement is complete must be included with your certification. This documentation may include, but is not limited to evidence of the purchase or repair of the equipment, photographic or video evidence of abatement, or other written records.
