29 CFR 1910.265(c)(20)(ii): Collecting systems. All mills containing one or more machines that create dust, shavings, chips, or slivers during a period of time equal to or greater than one-fourth of the working day, shall be equipped with a collecting system. It may be either continuous or automatic, and shall be of sufficient strength and capacity to enable it to remove such refuse from points of operation and immediate vicinities of machines and work areas. Sawco Hardwood, Inc. facility located at N3855 Mill Rd. Bryant, WI: On and about October 12, 2017, employees were exposed to multiple hazards, including but not limited to, fire and inhalation, due to airborne saw dust and accumulations of saw dust on the sawmill equipment and floors caused by inadequate air flow of the dust collection system. Saw dust and chips escape the machine enclosures due to loose covers and/or insufficient suction of the dust collection system.

A 480VAC motor on the R16 saw had a damaged connection where the flexible conduit joined the junction box on the motor.
