OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that employees were exposed to struck-by hazards: a) Corn Department: Broken safety latches were found on the G70 forged hook used in conjunction with the 1-Ton Coffing manual chain hoist and a forged hook used in conjunction with the 1-Ton CM manual chain hoist. These hoists and hooks are used several days per week on the Line A and Line B Mixers during the sanitation process, exposing employees to struck-by hazards, observed on or about October 18, 2017 ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION IS REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.

29 CFR 1910.303(b)(7)(i): Unused openings in boxes, raceways, auxiliary gutters, cabinets, equipment cases, or housings were not effectively closed to afford protection substantially equivalent to the wall of the equipment a) In the Maintenance Shop: The M.C. Dean MDP-A Main 480v EQ-9 electrical box did not have a door securely fastened in place, exposing employees to electrical shock and burn hazards as observed on or about October 18, 2017. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION IS REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.
