29 CFR 1910.217(c)(1)(i): The employer did not provide and insure the usage of "point of operation guards" or properly applied and adjusted point of operation devices on every operation performed on a mechanical power press: a) On or about October 17, 2017, the employer failed to ensure that point of operation guarding was afforded to all individuals working near the press while in operation. A waxer was present next to the operator stand of press #33 performing operations. No barrier guarding was present to prevent the waxer from reaching the point of operation. The operator has pull backs utilized and operates the press via foot pedal. b) On or about October 17, 2017, the employer failed to ensure that point of operation guarding was afforded to all individuals working near the press while in operation. The rear of the mechanical power presses on lines #6 and #7 are not guarded to protect employees from reaching the point of operation while the equipment is in use.

Pulleys serving as balance wheels (e.g., punch presses) on which the point of contact between belt and pulley is more than six feet six inches (6 ft. 6 in.) from the floor or platform may be guarded with a disk covering the spokes: On or about October, 17, 2017, the employer failed to ensure that belts were guarded to protect employees from the ingoing nip points. The belt conveyor system on Line #6 moving product between presses was not guarded.
